<p>En el marco de la competencia TECNOx, un equipo de jóvenes científicos presentó un detector portatil de dengue, de bajo costo que, de manera muy sencilla, permitiría distinguir las cuatro cepas del virus. El dispositivo, actualmente en desarrollo, apunta al diagnóstico temprano de la enfermedad, con una especificidad que evitaría confundirla con el zika o el chikungunya.</p>

<p>Desde la antigüedad los hongos son utilizados con fines terapéuticos. La penicilina es el más conocido y el principal derivado fúngico de uso antibiótico. La investigadora Gabriela Cabrera y su equipo buscan metabolitos de hongos que tengan algún tipo de actividad biólogica, particularmente, aquellos que atacan fitopatógenos en cultivos.</p>
