<p>Juan Carlos Pedraza es matemático. Luego de aprobar un examen ingresó a la Facultad en 1976. Por esas infaustas casualidades debía presentar la documentación justo el 24 de marzo. Cursó su carrera, se recibió y fue docente durante la dictadura. Al cumplirse cuatro décadas del último golpe cívico militar de la Argentina, Pedraza recuerda el día que vio tanques de guerra frente al Pabellón I de Ciudad Universitaria, describe el terror que se vivía a diario y define las políticas de memoria como una “clave de supervivencia”.</p>

<p>Nicolás Schweigmann, profesor e investigador de Exactas UBA con una larga experiencia en el estudio de mosquitos, encabezó una charla abierta con el objetivo de brindar precisiones sobre distintos aspectos relacionados con esta enfermedad y con su agente transmisor: el Aedes aegypti. Durante el encuentro surgieron múltiples ejemplos de informaciones equivocadas que circulan habitualmente por los medios y que pueden derivar en acciones inútiles e incluso peligrosas para las personas y el ambiente.</p>

<p>La cuenca del río Bermejo y la zona del Comahue podrán contar con estimaciones de lluvia para cada trimestre del año. Ello será posible gracias estudios estadísticos que correlacionan la cantidad de agua caída en un período determinado y ciertos factores, como la temperatura de los océanos, entre otros.</p>

<p>La música está mucho más emparentada con la ciencia de lo que parece. Términos musicales como altura, timbre e intensidad pueden explicarse gracias a los conceptos de la física. Y las proporciones que marcan los intervalos entre las notas tienen su fundamento en la matemática. Además, los modelos matemáticos pueden aplicarse para indagar cómo evolucionan los estilos musicales, entre otros aspectos.</p>
