<p>Tres científicos argentinos fueron elegidos entre los catorce investigadores de países en desarrollo galardonados por la Academia Mundial de Ciencias en su 26ta. reunión celebrada en Viena. Alicia Dickenstein y Eduardo Arzt, junto con la mendocina María Isabel Colombo, fueron los únicos sudamericanos que recibieron esta distinción. Como si esto fuera poco, otro investigador argentino, Gabriel Rabinovich, fue nombrado miembro de la TWAS.</p>

<p>¿Qué ocurre luego de las lluvias con la reproducción de ciertas especies de mosquitos? ¿Con qué temperatura y humedad logran desarrollarse mejor? En esa línea, el estudio de los charcos de agua donde las hembras depositan sus huevos, es una de las claves. Esos datos y muchos otros investigados por científicos argentinos son introducidos luego en modelos matemáticos para intentar anticipar cómo evolucionará su población luego de una precipitación.</p>

<p>De acuerdo con una investigación realizada por científicos de Argentina y los Estados Unidos, la cafeína perturba las funciones cerebrales de manera similar a la cocaína ya que interfiere también en los receptores de un neurotransmisor, la serotonina, responsable de controlar y estabilizar los estados de ánimo.</p>
