</span></font><span lang=EN-US>The Abdus Salam International Centre for
Theoretical Physics (ICTP)<br>
seeks applications for a faculty position in quantitative biology<br>
starting from 1 October 2013.<br>

</span>ICTP, based in Trieste, Italy, provides a top class multi-disciplinary<br>
research environment in theoretical sciences, with cutting edge<br>
research, education and training, and it has been a driving force<br>
behind global efforts for the advancement of science in the developing<br>
world. We are now seeking to establish a new research section in<br>
quantitative biology in order to respond to the theoretical challenges<br>
arising from recent advances in large-scale experiments in biology and<br>
neurosciences. The programme will be open to, and actively seeking<br>
collaborations with, external partners.<br>

Areas of interest include: biological networks; genomics,<br>
transcriptomics and proteomics; bioinformatics, machine learning and<br>
statistical inference approaches to biological systems; population<br>
genetics and evolution biology; and systems and computational<br>
neuroscience.<br>
<br>
The successful applicant will play a leading role in establishing the<br>
new section, promoting cutting-edge research in quantitative biology,<br>
and graduate student supervision. Applicants should have an<br>
outstanding international reputation and a solid track record in<br>
obtaining external funding.<br>

The position will be at the P3 UNESCO level, with a starting salary of<br>
$89200. Other benefits include family allowance, home travel,<br>
education grant for dependent children, pension plan and medical<br>
